Taxi from Gdańsk Train Station: Fares & Tips

A taxi from Gdańsk Główny station to Gdańsk Airport costs a fixed 99 PLN by day and 120 PLN at night, and rides across Gdańsk usually come to 30-70 PLN. From Sopot station the airport run is a fixed 120 PLN, from Gdynia Główna about 180 PLN. Book before your train pulls in and you'll know the fare in advance.

How much is a taxi from Gdańsk Główny?

These are the fares our online calculator quotes for a pickup outside the station (Podwale Grodzkie street) on an ordinary weekday, at noon and at 11 pm. Daytime is tariff 1: 9 PLN to start plus 3.90 PLN per km. From 22:00 to 6:00, and all day on Sundays and Polish public holidays, tariff 2 applies at 5.85 PLN per km. The calculator rounds up to the nearest 10 PLN and adds 10 PLN to metered rides under 100 PLN. The route depends on the exact address and on traffic, hence "approx.". Taxi from Wrzeszcz, Sopot and Gdynia stations

If you get off at Gdańsk Wrzeszcz, Sopot or Gdynia Główna, fares work the same way with one exception. All of Gdynia is on tariff 3 (7.80 PLN/km by day, 11.70 PLN/km at night), so even a short hop from Gdynia Główna costs more than a similar ride in Gdańsk.

The fixed airport fare covers central Gdańsk and Sopot. From Wrzeszcz the meter usually comes in under 99 PLN, and rides from Gdynia are metered at tariff 3. City guides: taxi in Sopot and taxi in Gdynia.

Is there a taxi rank at Gdańsk Główny?

There is, but it probably isn't the one you want. There are five taxi bays in front of the station building (PKP station information). At the end of 2024 the railway company PKP put them out to tender and handed the rank to a single ride-hailing operator (trojmiasto.pl, 5 Dec 2024). Since March 2026 a sign there warns of a 200 PLN charge for unauthorised parking. Other taxis can still collect passengers at the station, but only against a booking (trojmiasto.pl, 25 Mar 2026; as of September 2026). If you've booked a car, don't look for it on the rank. Agree on a meeting point instead.

In March 2026 a reporter from the local news site trojmiasto.pl asked for an off-app ride from the rank: for about 7 km within Gdańsk the driver quoted 80 PLN, then 100 PLN, and said there would be no receipt. According to the paper, the ride should have cost around 40 PLN (trojmiasto.pl, 23 Mar 2026). A price pulled out of thin air, well above the tables here, is your cue to say no thanks. Whoever drives you, ask for a receipt.

Booking a pickup from your train

• Say exactly where you'll be: the station, the exit and, if you know it, your arrival platform. At Gdańsk Główny that could be "main exit, Podwale Grodzkie street" or "bus station side, 3 Maja street", which you reach through the underpass.
• Give a phone number that works in Poland, with the country code. The driver calls when they arrive.
• If your train is running late, call the dispatcher with the new arrival time.
• Travelling with large suitcases? Add the estate-car option (+20 PLN) or book a minibus.

Station to airport: taxi or train?

By taxi it's about 17 km for a fixed 99 PLN (120 PLN at night), whatever the traffic. Details are on the airport taxi page. The train works too, with one change: airport trains leave from platform 3 at Gdańsk Wrzeszcz, and the airport station is right in front of the terminal (Gdańsk Airport, as of September 2026). With one bag and time to spare, that's a sensible choice. With heavy luggage, children or an early flight, a door-to-door taxi is easier, and a group simply splits one fixed fare.

Staying in the Old Town? Gdańsk Główny borders it and trams stop right outside the station (PKP), so a short walk may be all you need. Between the Tricity stations themselves, the SKM commuter line runs from Gdańsk Śródmieście through Gdańsk Główny, Wrzeszcz, Sopot and Gdynia Główna towards Wejherowo (PKP SKM, as of September 2026).
