Is Neptun Taxi cheaper than Bolt or Uber in Gdańsk?

Bolt and Uber use dynamic pricing — at peak demand they multiply the rate 1.5-2×. With us, the price you see in the calculator before booking is the final price.

  • New Year's Eve / Lechia match / wedding night — Neptun Taxi: Municipal tariff — no multipliers. Bolt/Uber: Surge 2-3×: from PLN 60 up to 250+ for the same ride.
  • Airport → city centre during rush hour — Neptun Taxi: PLN 99 day / PLN 120 night — guaranteed flat rate. Bolt/Uber: Often PLN 130-200 during peak / rain.

Is Neptun Taxi cheaper than Bolt or Uber in Gdańsk?

Short answer: it depends on time of day. During quiet hours (Mon-Thu 10:00-15:00) Bolt and Uber are often cheaper. During rush hour, rain, late nights or Friday evenings — Neptun usually comes out cheaper because we don't use surge pricing. Our rate is a municipal tariff set by Gdańsk city council: PLN 3.90/km daytime, PLN 5.85/km night — fixed, demand-independent. Bolt can multiply the rate 1.5-2× during peak demand.

Does the rate go up during rush hour at Neptun?

No. We apply the fixed municipal Gdańsk tariff — it does not change in real time. The only transitions are tariff 1 → tariff 2 at 22:00 (night), and tariff 3/4 after leaving Gdańsk city limits. The price shown in the calculator before booking is the final price — no surprises.

What is surge pricing and do you use it?

Surge pricing means dynamic price hikes in real time when demand spikes — used by Bolt, Uber and FreeNow. Neptun Taxi does NOT use surge pricing. You pay the municipal rate regardless of weather, time, holidays or traffic. The only exceptions are the night tariff (22:00-06:00) and tariff 3/4 (outside Gdańsk) — both known in advance and shown in the calculator before you book.
